Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I order ?
Pine and Period is a shop based in the village of Ash, near Canterbury in Kent. This website allows you to see all our stock before you visit. We do not take orders, nor payment on-line.

Our philosophy is, that we'd like you to come and see the piece in person first and be happy with it. Each item of furniture is unique and therefore it is different to ordering a book or CD when you know exactly what you are getting. Together with a photo, we put the dimensions of the piece online so you can measure up before you visit and therefore we hope you'll be confident of what you are getting before you arrive.

A couple of things to remember....

i) Please be aware that the colour on your computer monitor may differ slightly to the actual item as they all have different settings.
ii) In the room that you choose for your furniture we recommend that you check the overall dimensions to make sure that it fits in the space and is proportional

2. Are the items in stock or do you have to order them in ?
Every item that is on the website is in stock and available for collection today !
3. Is this flat-pack furniture ?
Certainly not ! This is quality hand-built furniture, either made or restored by our master craftsman. Why buy flat-pack, spend your entire weekend assemblying it, only for it to fall apart in a few years when you can have a treasured item which will last generations and hold its value.
4. How can I pay ?
We take cheques/cash, but unfortunately we are not set up to take credit/debit cards.
5. Do you deliver ?
We are able to deliver in the local area (CT postcodes). For areas further afield, we can advise you on a courier, or you are welcome to make your own arrangements

Clearly, the cost of transporting a fully assembly item of furniture would be more than a CD or a book. This is why we like you to visit us to ensure you're happy with the piece rathering than incurring the cost of delivery for an item which may suit upon arrival. However, you'd be surprised how easily you can fit a chest of drawers in the back of a hatchback or estate car.
6.What days/hours are you open ?
We are open most days of the week. However, there are times when we are busy in the workshop or collecting materials. We would advise you call (01304 812342) before you visit us to ensure we are available at the time you wish to visit. We live next door to the shop, so if the shop looks closed up when you arrive, pop over to the bungalow to see if we're around.

The phone number is our home phone, so feel free to call in the evening (until 9pm), seven days a week.
7. I'm busy at work during the day, can I pop over in the evening / weekend ?
Certainly. Again, we would advise you call to ensure that we're in and can accomodate you.
8. I've a few questions about a particular item before I visit
Please give us a call (01304 812342) and we'd happy to answer any questions you may have.
9. What's the best way to contact you ?
Telephone will clearly give you an immediate response and will therefore be the preferred method. Unfortunately, we can only check emails (sales@pineandperiod.com) in the evening, however, we'd be happy to get back to you via that medium if you prefer.
10. I've a query related to the website, rather than the shop
All queries regarding the website should be emailed to website@pineandperiod.com. We cannot take any questions related to the website by telephone.
11. Do you have a catalogue ?
To keep our prices as low as possible and in line with our 'green ethos', we do not produce catalogues. All information is shown on our website which is updated daily. Please feel free to contact us with any query however big or small and we will will be happy to help.
12. How long have you been trading ?
We've been trading as Pine and Period since 1990.
